Stephen Meyer began practicing law in 2015 when he joined the firm of Vaux Marscher Berglind, PA as an associate attorney. In May of 2022, Steve was elected as a partner in the firm. Steve is a fifth-generation attorney who is proud to serve the Lowcountry and is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in South Carolina.

Steve concentrates his practice primarily in the areas of family and matrimonial law. As lead counsel, Steve handles everything from complex divorce involving multi-million dollar asset and debt division, to simple and uncontested divorce. Steve also handles cases involving issues of child custody, child support, termination of parental rights, adoption, name changes, birth certificate amendments, cases involving same sex parties, and any other actions in the Family Court. In addition to his family and matrimonial practice, Steve has served the Family Courts of South Carolina for nearly a decade as a Guardian ad Litem for minor children who are impacted by custody disputes. In 2019, Steve was certified by the Supreme Court of South Carolina as a Family Court Mediator. In his role as a mediator, Steve has aided scores of litigants and their lawyers in navigating disputes to the point of resolution. Steve finds himself fortunate to be regularly called upon by the bench and bar to serve as a Guardian ad Litem and as a mediator. Steve also has extensive experience negotiating prenuptial agreements and has served as a continuing legal education presenter on this topic. Steve was recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star in the area of Family Law for 2021, 2022, and 2023.

In addition to his family law practice, Steve represents individuals charged with a variety of criminal offenses, to include driving under the influence (DUI), drug offenses, and traffic offenses. Steve also practices in areas of landlord / tenant law and general civil litigation.

Steve was born and raised in the rural Finger Lakes region of New York. After graduating from Skaneateles Senior High School, Steve moved to Washington, DC where he attended American University, graduating with a degree in political science and justice. After college, Steve spent three years working in retail management and marketing staffing in Washington, DC and Virginia before attending law school.

Steve attended the University of South Carolina School of Law where he graduated, magna cum laude, earning both his Juris Doctor degree and a Children's Law Certificate. During law school, Steve earned membership in the Order of the Coif (top 10% of graduating class), Order of the Wig and Robe, and Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. Steve also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Education and earned four CALI awards in a variety of subject areas.

Steve is married to Hillary Meyer, an attorney with the Jolley Law Group, and is the proud father to their daughter. When not at work, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends and is involved with several local civic organizations, including previously serving as the President of the Beaufort County Bar Association (2021) and as the Board Chair of Lowcountry Legal Volunteers (2020 - current). Steve and his family are also involved members of Lowcountry Presbyterian Church. Steve thoroughly enjoys teaching constitutional law at USCB's Osher Life Long Learning Initiative, a role he has held for over six years. He is also an Eagle Scout. In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, cooking, traveling, and enjoying everything the Lowcountry has to offer. Steve is an avid fan and supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, as challenging as it may sometimes be.
